| Module Layouts Although we encourage members to get involved with module building there is no requirement to build one yourself. One of the many aims of the club is to provide the opportunity to gain advice on woodwork, wiring, scenery building, painting and much much more. Modular layouts allow for those lacking space at home to contribute to a much larger layout, but still work on their efforts whenever they want. You can contribute however you want with no special skills required, just the willingness to join in! | | Module Construction
Details on the requirements of a members module are as follows:
- Module must be a multiple of 4ft long (4ft / 8ft / 12ft sections). Longer modules should be discussed.
- Board depth must be 4in in order to accomodate connections with other modules.
- Track bed must be 3ft above the ground. Legs/feet should have 1in of adjustment available.
- Track centre lines must be 2/3/4/5in from board front fascia. Track should stop 1.5in from the end.
- A positional guage is available for track alignment

| | Club Member's Modules | Adam L. Module 2
| Size: 8ft x 1ft Setting: Named - Cathedral Hill, scenery is based on a modern multiple unit depots and is intended to feature several maintenance sheds of various purpose and length. A train wash road runs across the centre of the layout, and at the opposite end of features storage roads with crew walkways and working flood lights.
Images of construction progress can be found >>HERE<<
| Dave B. | Size: 4ft x 2ft Setting: Scenery is based on a seaside inlet with peaceful small harbour entrance crossed by the 4 track mainline on a plate girder bridge and a number of small boats, plus additional detail in and around the harbour. Images of this module can be found >>HERE<<
We would like to thank Dave's family for their kind donation of this module to the club.
| | David M. | Size: 4ft x 2ft
Setting: Scenery is based on an insutrial shunting yard. Brick Warehouses, mineral wagons and shunting dominates the view. Semaphores and steam locomotives play a large part, but the odd diesel locomotive can still be found occasionally. Images of this module can be found >>HERE<< | Graham G. | Size: 8ft x 2ft Setting: Scenery is based on an Oil Depot and Traction Maintenance Depot, separated by an over-bridge spanning the four running lines. Featuring shunting facilities at both locations, Graham is able to fully control the operation of fuel trains arriving, unloading/loading, re-arrangement of wagons, and departing again, all from a loop along side the main lines.
The depot facilities include stabling roads, maintenance sheds, and a fuelling point.
Development of this module is ongoing, of which images can be viewed >>HERE<<
| | Guy B. | Size: 4ft x 2ft Setting: Scenery is still in progress, but Guy's module is designed to be self operating with a connection to the mainlines at the front. The module features several sidings and a circuit with hidden fiddle yard at the rear.
Images of this module are not yet available.
| Keith D. | Size: 8ft x 1ft Setting: Scenery is based on the Dawlish sea wall, with the up and down main lines along the sea wall, and the two relief lines behind the cliff face. Images of this module can be found >>HERE<< | Les W. Module 1 | Size: 4ft x 2ft Setting: Scenery is based on a country estate scene, with disused station halt, and the 'Time Team' excavating the grounds of the estate, camp site and children play area and lots of additional details. Images of this module can be found >>HERE<< | Les W. Module 2
| Size: 4ft x 2ft Setting: Based on a similar theme to Les' first module above, this extension features more horticultural land with allotments and ornamental gardens.
Images of this module can be found >>HERE<< | Richard P. Module 1 | Size: 4ft x 2ft Setting: Scenery is based on a river valley scene with the 2 track mainline crossing the valley on an arched girder bridge, with the relief lines crossing on the old stone bridge, with a farm on the hill, a working windmill and various boats and river detail. Images of this module can be found >>HERE<< Richard also has a corner board that connects to and matches the scenes found on this one so that he can extend the setting and add variety to the arrangement of the modular layout. | Richard P. Module 2
| Size: 4ft x 1ft Setting: For Richards second module, he has opted for a much reserved (and more transportable!) set-up of a small urban station loosely based on Surbiton or other similarly characteristic 'Southern' style establishments. 1930s retaining walls featuring throughout.
Images of this module are not yet available.
| Roger C. | Size: 8ft x 2ft Setting: Originally based on a branch line serving a small mountain railway and harbour scene in Japan, constructed by former member Ron Upton. This module is now under the command of Roger who also follows a Japanese interest and has a few changes in mind.
The scenery still retains much of its content, featuring a tighly winding line weaving through the rocks and emerging to cross the four track mainline. From here the line dives back down to sea level in order to reach the near by harbour complete with passenger terminus and cargo crane. An additional road is tucked alongside the mainline (although not connected to it) for the shuffling of fish vans before they are carted off.

Club Owned Modules | Fiddleyard | Size: 8ft x 2ft Setting: Built to look like a typical railway stock storage yard, with abandoned loco and carriage used as mess hut, on a disconnected siding. Up and Down main lines have 3 loops each, with the relief lines having 2 loops each resulting in a total of 10 lines for stocking the layout.
The relief lines can be switched out from the main control panel, to allow remote control from members modules to drive trains out onto the relief lines. Images of this module can be found >>HERE<< | Fairground Corner | Size: 2ft6in x 2ft6in Setting: Many details including fairground organ (with live fairground organ music), but lacking people, the notice on the foot bridge access across the 4 track railway line, states "Fair opening tomorrow". | Farm Yard Corner | Size: 2ft6in x 2ft6in Setting: Typical British country scene with much detail, including seagulls, crows and many other typical farm animals. | Airport Corner | Size: 2ft6in x 2ft6in Setting: Runway with marker lights and old aircraft used for training the rescue services and a possible sighting of Concorde in Virgin Atlantic colours.
Images of this module can be found >>HERE<< | | Village Corner | Size: 2ft6in x 2ft6in Setting: A wealth of detail including a Gnome fishing in the mill pool, water mill, beer delivery to the pub and the church over looking the village. Images of this module can be found >>HERE<< | Paddock Hill
| Not stickly a module for use in the main club layout, Paddock Hill was built by the late Dave Benham and kindly donated to the club by his family.
